Melbourne has a court like this - "The Fishmarkets" under an overpass in otherwise useless space. It is a fantastic court, imperfect though. The issue is infrastructure like proximity to bottleshops, snacks, toilets, and there is no lighting making it useless over winter. We've brought in a generator and spotlights but running costs and reliance on vehicles are high.
But hell, it does feel good to reclaim unused space. Photographs well too in an industrial kind of way as opposed to painted lines and bright colours of multi-use civic courts
